Mechanical Contract Purchasing Buyer (m/f/d)

• Source and select suppliers for complex mechanical parts by managing RFI/RFQ processes, evaluating suppliers, and recommending the best option based on quality, cost, delivery, technology, and risk
• Lead contract and commercial negotiations, including pricing, business conditions, multi-year agreements, and supplier contracts after customer award
• Drive cost reduction and value engineering (VE) by supporting annual cost negotiations, providing demand information, and proposing part/component alternatives with Engineering and Global Purchasing
• Manage clean launches by coordinating purchasing approvals, POs, delivery schedules, build-event requirements, and resolving delays with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers
• Ensure supply continuity and manage part changes, including alternative sourcing, supplier discontinuation, shortages, last-time buys (LTB), obsolete inventory, and change implementation
• Manage supplier performance and relationships by monitoring supplier organization, financials, business direction, evaluations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement

• Education & experience: Completed relevant studies and 5+ years of contract purchasing experience, preferably in an automotive Tier 1 or comparable environment
• Purchasing expertise: Strong experience in sourcing, contracting, and cost reduction, particularly for semiconductors or printed circuit boards (PCBs)
• Automotive procurement knowledge: Basic understanding of production purchasing, tooling, capacity planning/verification, and automotive procurement quality assurance
• Languages & cross-cultural skills: Fluent English and German; Japanese is preferable, with strong cross-cultural communication abilities
• Analytical & technical skills: Strong mathematical and logical thinking, business acumen, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP
• Interpersonal & negotiation skills: Strong communication, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and supplier relationship-management abilities
• Problem-solving & personal qualities: Strong fact-based problem solving, attention to detail, ownership, persistence, ethics, positive mindset, mental stamina, and willingness to travel approximately 45%
